In order to promote organic products nationally and internationally, a free, optional Tunisian logo has been created for these products. To qualify, the product must be certified by an inspection and certification body in accordance with current Tunisian regulations. This logo is only granted following a request from the parties involved, in accordance with a model, accompanied by a certificate of conformity issued by the inspection and certification body, proving that the product has been obtained in accordance with the rules of organic production, and submitted to the relevant departments of the Regional Agricultural Development Commissariats or to the General Directorate of Organic Agriculture, which will examine the request within a period not exceeding one month from the date of submission. It should be noted that the applicant is required to send the Direction Générale de l’Agriculture Organique the labels used, as well as any proposed changes to be made to the labels. In the event of a positive decision, the logo is granted by decision of the Minister of Agriculture, which will be appended by a document setting out the location where the logo is to be affixed, its dimensions, colors, shape and all the rules that must be respected for its use according to the media used for this purpose. In the event of refusal, the interested party must be informed by explicit registered letter. This logo has been registered by the Ministry of Agriculture at the Institut National de la Normalisation et de la Propriété Industrielle.
